ABOUT ME

Giovanna Molina’s filmmaking work explores stories of belief, isolation, and surrealism within a female coming-of-age context. She is a Sundance Ignite 2022 Fellow, graduate of UCLA’s Directing M.F.A. program, and received her B.A. from Johns Hopkins University in Film & Creative Writing. Her most recent film, QUAKER, is supported by grants from Sundance Ignite and The Future of Film is Female and will have its World Premiere at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival.

Her short HICKEY won “Best Narrative Short” at Indie Memphis Film Festival and PBS Fine Cut Festival of Films, was broadcast by PBS, and premiered online as a Vimeo Staff Pick. She is in development on her debut feature, KISMET, which chronicles how an 8th grader channels her depression into her belief in aliens. The script for KISMET was selected for Wscripted’s 2024 Cannes Screenplay List presented by MUBI.

Giovanna is a Mexican and Italian-American filmmaker from Brooklyn, working between LA & NY.
